As reported by The Sun on Saturday, July 18, 2026, Mr. Olatunde Zacchaeus, an educator taken from a secondary school in Oriire Local Government Area in Oyo State, shared his story of being held captive and spoke of the harsh conditions he and others faced while with the kidnappers.
Zacchaeus stated that the captors enforced strict regulations on their prisoners and forbade them from practicing their religion, noting that those who failed to follow their commands faced severe punishments while being closely monitored at all times during their detention.
He detailed that the hostages held onto hope and patience in spite of the struggles they faced, stating that they supported each other in staying composed while they awaited a chance to escape and return to their loved ones after the distressing experience.
