Veteran Nigerian entertainer, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has opened up about the reality of his long-lasting marriage, revealing that he and his wife frequently quarrel but always find a way to settle their differences.
According to a report by TVC, Charly Boy spoke during an interview where he compared his relationship with his wife to the popular cartoon characters Tom and Jerry, explaining that disagreements are a normal part of their union.
He said: “My wife and I are like Tom and Jerry, we quarrel all the time but we always resolve it.”
The entertainer, who has been married for nearly five decades, stated that the secret behind the longevity of their relationship is their willingness to constantly work through issues rather than allow conflicts to destroy the marriage.
Charly Boy explained that marriage is not a perfect fairytale, insisting that every successful union requires effort, understanding, and proper management.
According to him, “all marriages are management,” stressing that couples must intentionally make compromises and learn how to navigate difficult moments together.
He also admitted that staying with one partner for several decades can sometimes become repetitive or boring, humorously comparing it to eating the same soup every day.
Despite this, he clarified that he does not support infidelity, adding that commitment and acceptance remain important in sustaining a long-term relationship.
