It Started Like A Fever, Within Days I Was Diagnosed With Kidney Failure, Then Liver Disease -Razak

Abdul Razak, a 30-year-old Nigerian accounting graduate, has shared his harrowing medical journey that began as what seemed like a simple fever. Within days, his condition escalated dramatically. He was diagnosed with kidney failure, and just weeks before his scheduled kidney transplant, doctors discovered he also had liver disease requiring immediate intervention.

Speaking on Biola Adebayo’s “Talk-to-B” show, Abdul Razak explained how quickly his health deteriorated. What his family initially dismissed as a minor ailment turned into a life-threatening double organ failure. The diagnosis shocked everyone, as he had never been admitted to a hospital before in his life.

The unexpected liver diagnosis changed everything about his treatment plan. Doctors informed him that his liver was decomposed and he would need a combined kidney and liver transplant. Since such procedures are not performed in Nigeria, he had to travel to India for the complex surgery.

Abdul Razak said: “This thing started like a joke to all of us. Like it was just like a fever, mander stuff, but just within days, within weeks, I was diagnosed with kidney failure. It was actually kidney failure at first. As times goes on maybe probably like a week or two to my kidney transplant I was also diagnosed with liver disease. So I remember at that time we were told that you needed 25 million for my child. We got the money through Dr. B by God’s grace. It was just like a week to my kidney transplant. That was when the doctors told me my liver is decomposed that it’s either I go for the only option is for me to go for combined kidney and liver transplant which liver transplant is not done in Nigeria…….See More
