A Nigerian woman identified as Gloria Nmama has narrated the emotional trauma she allegedly endured in the hands of her ex-husband, accusing him of using fear, threats, and traditional beliefs to prevent her from seeing their child.
Speaking during an appearance on the Brekete Family programme, Gloria explained that her former partner repeatedly warned that their child would die if he accepted food or anything directly from her.
According to her, “My husband said my child would die if he ate anything from my hands.”
Gloria described the statement as part of a wider pattern of intimidation and psychological abuse allegedly used against her throughout their custody dispute.
She claimed that her ex-husband accused her of infidelity and insisted that she must undergo traditional cleansing rites and sacrifices in his village before she could be allowed access to the child.
According to her account, the man allegedly used spiritual and cultural claims to instill fear in both the child and members of the family, effectively cutting off communication and contact between mother and son for several years.
Gloria stated that the ongoing situation has left her emotionally devastated, as she continues to struggle for access to her child despite seeking intervention from different authorities.
