Hadizah Abubakar has shared an amusing story about how her physical attributes, specifically her legs, became the source of her popularity during her National Youth Service Corps program in Benue State. She revealed that her legs earned her a nickname and eventually led to a prestigious posting.
Speaking on Talk-to-B, Hadizah explained that she was posted to serve at the Government House in Makurdi, Benue State after her NYSC camp experience. However, what made her camp experience memorable was the attention her legs attracted. Right from her university days at Uni Benin, fellow students had nicknamed her based on her attractive legs, and this continued into NYSC camp.
During camp, Hadizah performed as a dancer and wore shorts, which showcased her legs. The combination of her performance skills and physical appearance made her extremely popular among camp participants. She described having “very fine sexy legs” back then, which became her defining feature rather than her acting talent or other abilities. This popularity from her legs was what ultimately secured her the coveted Government House posting in Benue State, demonstrating how sometimes unexpected attributes can open doors. She joked about the superficiality of it all, noting how amusing it was that her legs, rather than her qualifications or talents, became her ticket to a desirable youth service placement.
Hadizah Abubakar said: “I served in Benue State. Government House in Benue. I danced in camp. At that time, I was what? I just danced, and the next thing they said, ‘This girl is going to Government House.’ And that was it. I performed in camp.
