In a video on Fox on Saturday May 30, 2026, Fox News host Jesse Watters has said President Donald Trump spent nearly two hours in the Situation Room with senior military commanders and national security officials as the administration moved closer to a final decision on a proposed agreement involving Iran.
Speaking during a broadcast, Watters said the meeting focused on key aspects of the ongoing negotiations, including Iran’s nuclear programme, maritime security in the Gulf region and the future of economic restrictions imposed on Tehran.
According to Watters, the president reiterated his position that Iran must never be allowed to possess a nuclear weapon and stressed the importance of addressing concerns surrounding highly enriched uranium and other nuclear materials. He noted that discussions were also centered on the disposal of what he described as nuclear residue linked to Iran’s enrichment activities.
Watters explained that one of the central conditions of the proposed agreement would require the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important shipping routes. Under the arrangement being discussed, Iran would be expected to remove and neutralise any naval mines believed to have been deployed in the Gulf.
He stated that in return, the United States would gradually ease its naval blockade in the region, allowing commercial vessels currently affected by the restrictions to resume normal operations.
“The terms of the first phase of the deal are that the strait must be immediately open. No tolls, nothing,” Watters said.
He added that the proposed arrangement would require Iran to take immediate action regarding maritime security concerns. “Iran will have to immediately remove and detonate all mines left in the Gulf,” he stated.
Watters further disclosed that discussions were continuing over Iranian funds frozen under international sanctions. While Tehran was reportedly seeking access to those resources, he said the administration had not yet approved any transfer of money.
“The Iranians are begging for unfrozen cash, but the president says no money will be exchanged until further notice,” Watters said…..See More
