According to a report by Anadolu Agency on Monday, July 20, 2026, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has declared that the country is engaged in what he described as a “full-scale war” with the United States, urging Iranians to prepare for the challenges and sacrifices that come with the escalating conflict.
Speaking during a government meeting in Tehran on Monday, Pezeshkian said the Islamic Republic was facing one of the most critical periods in its modern history as military tensions with Washington continue to intensify.
“The reality is that today the Islamic Republic of Iran is engaged in a full-scale war,” the Iranian president said in a statement released by his office. “We must be realistic and accept the natural consequences of this resistance.”
His remarks come amid a rapidly deteriorating security situation, with the United States expanding military operations against Iranian targets and Tehran responding with a series of retaliatory actions across the region. The latest escalation has heightened fears of a broader regional conflict involving multiple state and non-state actors.
Despite the growing military confrontation, Pezeshkian stressed that Iran’s domestic economy remains a crucial front in the conflict. He called on government institutions to work together to protect citizens’ livelihoods, maintain essential services and strengthen national unity during the crisis.
According to Iranian state media, the president said the government would utilise all available resources to continue serving the public while implementing reforms aimed at easing the economic burden caused by the conflict and existing international sanctions. He also urged greater coordination among state institutions, arguing that unity would be essential in overcoming the challenges facing the country.
