“If It Is Not Out Of Disrespect, Will Abba Kabir Yusuf Say He Is Not My Political Son? -Kwankwaso

According to a report by Nigerian Tribune Thursday, May 28, 2026, former Kano State Governor and Senator, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has stated that Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje remain his political protégés, despite recent tensions and public exchanges within the state’s political space.

Kwankwaso made the clarification while speaking at his Miller Road residence in Kano during a meeting with members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, a political structure he leads.

The gathering was attended by supporters and loyalists who have remained active within his political network over the years.

His remarks followed recent reactions attributed to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf concerning Kwankwaso’s repeated description of him as “his boy.”

The comment had generated discussions within political circles in Kano, especially given the ongoing realignments and rivalry among key political actors in the state.

Reports indicated that Governor Yusuf had questioned the description, expressing concern over its appropriateness.

He was quoted as saying: “How can a 69-year-old refer to a 63-year-old as his boy?” The statement further intensified public interest in the political relationship between the two leaders, both of whom share a long history within the same political movement.

In response, Kwankwaso maintained that both Governor Yusuf and former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje rose politically under his mentorship, stressing that acknowledging such relationships should not be considered offensive.

He insisted that his comments were based on political history and mentorship ties that have existed over time.

He said, “If it is not out of disrespect, will Abba Kabir Yusuf say he is not my political son? If it is not out of disrespect, will Abdullahi Umar Ganduje say he is not my political son?…..See More
