GF Chairman: The President Then Didn’t Want Me To Come Back. I Remember He Called Me One Day -Amaechi

Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has declared himself the most qualified and electable presidential aspirant in the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The former Minister of Transportation attributed his confidence to his extensive leadership experience and what he described as his relative youth.

According to The Punch, Amaechi, during an interview on ARISE News on Friday, positioned himself as a strong contender within the ADC, which is expected to feature other aspirants such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Northern Nigeria Development Company boss Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.

When asked why the ADC should choose him over other prominent aspirants, Amaechi maintained that he possessed the strongest leadership credentials among them.

He stated that he had previously led the Speakers’ Conference, established its office in Abuja and successfully managed the body for two terms.

Further talking, he said, “I was, in the second term, asked to come and be chairman again. I became the first chairman to have a second tenure as chairman of the Governors’ Forum. And you saw how controversial it was.

“The president then didn’t want me to come back. I remember the president calling me one day. ‘You have turned the Governors’ Forum into a labour union.’

He explained that he had told the person that he was only acting as a public relations officer because the individual’s governor was also a member, adding that he merely announced whatever decisions the governors collectively reached……See More
