Former Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, has pledged to be a strong and effective representative of the Delta North Senatorial District following his victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary ahead of the 2027 elections, where he defeated the incumbent senator, Ned Nwoko.
Speaking shortly after the primary election, Okowa expressed appreciation to his supporters across the district, describing their backing as a demonstration of trust and confidence in his leadership.
According to Vanguard, he assured them that he would not take the responsibility lightly and promised to serve with dedication and sincerity if eventually elected as senator.
According to him, his goal is to ensure that the interests and concerns of the people of Delta North are properly and consistently represented at the national level.
He emphasized that effective representation requires constant engagement with constituents, not distance from them.
Okowa also indicated his intention to maintain close contact with his constituency, stressing that senators should not be detached from the people who elected them.
He said he would make regular visits to Delta State so as to stay connected with community needs and developments.
