BAT: “Atiku Said The Only Way To Remove The Man Who Brought Hardship Is By Looking North” -Momodu

In a recent interview on News Central TV, Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), spoke on electoral strategy, zoning debates, and opposition efforts ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

During the interview, Momodu stated, “Atiku said the only way to remove this man who brought hardship is by looking north.” He made the remark while discussing the political calculations surrounding attempts to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next general election.

Momodu explained that the comment reflected the strategic thinking of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar regarding Nigeria’s electoral realities and voting patterns. According to him, political decisions ahead of 2027 are increasingly being influenced by regional arithmetic and the search for the strongest possible opposition candidate.

He further stated that debates over zoning and regional balance have continued to dominate political discussions, with many stakeholders divided over whether power should remain in the South or shift back to the North after Tinubu’s first term.

Momodu also argued that the opposition must focus on building a broad national coalition capable of addressing economic hardship, insecurity, and governance concerns affecting Nigerians. He noted that political sentiment alone would not be enough to secure victory against an incumbent administration.

He emphasized that the 2027 election will require careful strategy, strong political structures, and cooperation among major opposition figures, including former Anambra State governor Peter Obi and former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.

He concluded by urging political actors to prioritize national interest, competence, and unity as opposition parties continue consultations and coalition talks ahead of the next presidential contest…….See More
