After Civil War My Brother & I Began Selling Fruits In Barracks, I Didn’t Want To Be A Soldier -Irabor

General Lucky Irabor (rtd), former Chief of Defence Staff, has spoken about how he developed interest in becoming a military personnel

In an interview with NTA, General Irabor said he and his elder brother used to go to a military barracks to sell fruits to soldiers after the Nigerian Civil War ended

General Irabor said he initially did not want to become a soldier because of his knowledge about military life then. He said his uncle obtained the Nigerian Defence Academy form for him and when he wrote the NDA examination he passed it.

General Irabor added that during the interview stage he saw his age mates who were cadets and he became convinced that a military career was what he truly wanted

In General Irabor’s words: “After the war we used to have a barrack in Agbor, and so my elder brother and I used to go to sell fruits within the barracks and so I had that kind of boyish knowledge of soldiering. So it was not something I wanted to do”…….See More
