During an interview on Arise Television on Monday, May 11, 2026, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State and member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, spoke about power rotation and the zoning of the presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general election.
Speaking during the interview, Kwankwaso said the decision to support a southern presidential candidate was necessary to reduce political tension and address controversies surrounding power rotation in the country.
According to him, “From our own end, we believe the best way to go now is to take it to the south so that we can eliminate the confusion that emanated from the death of our brother and our friend, Umaru Musa Yaradua. That actually introduced the confusion into the system.
