Bayo Onanuga, the Senior Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has reacted following a high-level meeting involving Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and top officials from the United States.
In a statement shared on his official X account on Saturday, May 9, 2026, Onanuga explained that the discussions were aimed at strengthening collaboration between Nigeria and the United States, particularly in the areas of security and counter-terrorism.
According to him, Nuhu Ribadu embarked on the three-day engagement as part of efforts to reaffirm President Tinubu’s commitment to sustaining strong diplomatic and strategic ties with the United States government.
The meeting reportedly focused on growing security concerns across West Africa and the Sahel Region, where several countries continue to battle terrorism, insurgency, and organized criminal activities.
