A 19-year-old Nigerian girl, whose identity was not disclosed during an interview with an Africa Independent Television (AIT) correspondent, has revealed how she was repeatedly molested by her biological father. According to her, the abuse began when she was seven years old, and she alleged that her father was often violent during the harassments.
She said, “I just want a place where I can sleep without fear of anybody molesting me. Most times when I don’t let him have his ways, he always beat me and give me scars. I told my mom about it and she said I was just a child and that I didn’t know what I was saying.
She alleged that when she was eight years old, her mother caught her father abusing her and attempted to contact his relatives, but later forgave him after he pleaded with her, saying she wanted to protect the marriage.
The teenager also claimed that when she asked her mother why she never supported her after she reported the abuse, her mother responded by asking whether she had involved her while “planning” with her husband.
She expressed disbelief at the remark, questioning how a seven-year-old child could be accused of planning such acts with an adult. She added that the experience pushed her into deep despair, making her feel at one point that she could no longer continue living with the trauma……See More
