Former Special Adviser to former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, Opunabo Inko-Tariah, has predicted a massive political wave in support of Governor Siminalayi Fubara once the Rivers governor formally begins his re-election campaign ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Friday May 8, 2026, Inko-Tariah described Fubara’s growing popularity in Rivers State as organic support, insisting that the governor’s political strength is rooted in public acceptance rather than financial mobilisation or political theatrics.
According to him, many people have questioned why Governor Fubara has not openly launched a major political campaign despite increasing speculation surrounding his second-term ambition.
Responding to the concerns, Inko-Tariah said the governor was already quietly building support across the state and warned that the scale of public backing for Fubara would become evident once he officially enters campaign mode.
“Any day he formally commences his campaign, I will tell you the truth: it is going to be like a magnificent thunderbolt that lights up everywhere,” he said.
The former Wike aide added that the governor’s supporters were not crowds assembled through financial inducement but people who genuinely identify with his style of leadership and governance.
Inko-Tariah further argued that Fubara’s administration has continued to gain acceptance because of what he described as a governance style focused on action and human capital development rather than political grandstanding.
He maintained that the governor remained confident and unafraid of any political coalition or opposition ahead of the 2027 elections, insisting that Fubara’s support base across Rivers State would ultimately translate into electoral victory…….See More
