Nigerian entertainer Korra Obidi has opened up about a sensitive chapter from the early days of her former marriage, revealing that doubt and uncertainty shaped some of the decisions she made before relocating to the United States.
Speaking during an appearance on the One54 Africa Podcast, Korra reflected on how her relationship with her ex-husband began and the emotional confusion she experienced at the time.
According to her, although they were already involved romantically, she struggled to believe that he was truly serious about building a future with her.
Korra explained that before traveling to America to join him, she had an affair because she did not think he would actually follow through on promises to come to Nigeria and eventually take their relationship further.
She said, “I had an affair before I went to meet my husband in America because I didn’t believe he was going to marry me. I thought he was joking.” The singer noted that at the time, she was skeptical about whether the relationship would last or become something permanent.
She said she later confessed the incident to him after arriving in America, describing that moment as one that deeply affected the direction of their marriage. According to her, honesty about the affair became a major turning point in the relationship and contributed to tensions that followed later.
