The National Publicity Secretary for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ini Ememobong, has given a varied evaluation of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s performance while he served as Governor of Lagos State, mentioning that although there were flaws, some of his initiative still stand out.
Ememobong shared his thoughts in an interview on Channels Television, addressing leadership and governance in Nigeria. His statements come during ongoing discussions in the country regarding the history of political figures and how past actions influence current expectations.
Looking back at Tinubu’s period in office from 1999 to 2007, the PDP representative recognized that the former governor of Lagos did not fully fulfill expectations, yet acknowledged some significant contributions he made. “During the time President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was in Lagos, he didn’t perform well, but some actions he took are still relevant today,” Ememobong stated.
He further elaborated that assessing governance requires a complete view, considering both successes and shortcomings. He believes that while it is necessary to point out where leaders fail, it is also important to acknowledge policies or changes that have had a lasting effect.
