According to Vanguard, a prominent figure within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ladan Salihu, has predicted a major political shift ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, asserting that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will struggle to withstand growing public dissatisfaction.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Salihu offered a critical assessment of the current administration led by Bola Tinubu.
He argued that widespread frustration among Nigerians would play a decisive role in the next election cycle, suggesting that the government’s performance would not meet public expectations when subjected to electoral scrutiny.
Emphasizing concerns about the integrity of the process, Salihu stated, “When it comes to credible elections and elections that are based on integrity, this government will fail the integrity and credibility test at the polls. This government will not measure up with the anger and the frustrations of the Nigerian people.”
Despite acknowledging the APC’s strong political presence across key institutions, he maintained that such dominance does not equate to popular support.
Highlighting the party’s control of multiple state governments and its influence within the National Assembly, he remarked, “They have 31 governors, they have control of the Senate and the House, but they don’t have control of the people.”
Salihu expressed confidence that the ADC could capitalize on this disconnect between the government and citizens, positioning itself as a viable alternative in 2027.
His comments reflect a broader narrative emerging within opposition circles, pointing to rising public discontent as a potential turning point in Nigeria’s political landscape…..See More
