N25.7Bn Were Donated In 2 Days For Library, I Begged Mrs Tinubu To Give It To The Natl Govt -George

According to Bode George, he has appealed to Oluremi Tinubu to reconsider how funds raised for the completion of the National Library project in Abuja should be utilized.

Speaking during an interview on The Legacy Series, George revealed that approximately ₦25.7 billion was reportedly donated within two days to support the long-abandoned National Library project. While acknowledging the significance of the initiative, he urged that the funds be redirected toward broader social welfare efforts.

George stated that he had personally appealed to the First Lady, suggesting that the money be handed over to the federal government and used to address pressing economic challenges faced by vulnerable Nigerians. He emphasized the need for programs that directly impact livelihoods, including skill acquisition and microcredit schemes.

In his words: “I told you about the national library, 25.7 billion naira in two days were donated. I begged the first lady, I am still begging her, turn that money, give it out to the national government and that should be the beginning of welfarism for the poor people, skill acquisition program and micro credit for these poor people, please.”

His comments reflect a broader debate about national priorities, particularly the balance between infrastructure development and immediate social welfare needs.
