In 2015, When Atiku Contested Against Buhari And Kwankwaso In APC Primaries, He Came 3rd -Abdulkarim

During an interview on Trust TV, Ibrahim Abdulkarim, a political associate of Peter Obi, spoke on past political developments involving Atiku Abubakar, particularly his stance on zoning and his performance in previous elections.

Abdulkarim recalled events following the death of former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, noting that there were strong calls from northern political figures for power to return to the region. He said Atiku was among those who supported that position, especially during the period leading up to the 2011 presidential election.

He explained that after failing to secure victory in 2011, Atiku later defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), where he again based his political argument on zoning, maintaining that it was the North’s turn to produce the president.

According to him, “Everybody in this country can recall vividly what happened after the demise of Yaradua. A team came up on what we can see—the northern including Atiku Abubakar—as championing that cause to demand for a one time for Jonathan to step aside because it’s the turn of the north and when they couldn’t get it in 2011, he contested with Jonathan and couldn’t get it. In 2015, he aligned himself, left his party to the party of APC.

“And he said that he’s leaving the party purposely because of the zoning issue. It’s supposed to be the turn of the north. That’s what he said, and then he went into APC and contested against Buhari and Kwankwaso, and he came third. He didn’t even come second.”…..See More
