According to a report by Nigerian Tribune on Thursday, April 16, 2026, Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has harshly slammed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, claiming that he is clueless about the reality of Nigerian governance and has a history of underperformance.
While touring current infrastructure works in Kuje and other regions within the FCT on Thursday, Wike addressed journalists and made these statements.
He brushed off Atiku’s recent criticisms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration as the rants of a politician trying to cope with his diminishing influence during the engagement.
His main point was that the ex-VP’s complaints about the federal government were motivated by resentment rather than facts.
Such comments, according to Wike, show that someone is unwilling to accept credit for the achievements of the present administration.
Additionally, the minister stressed that although the current government has not been in power for very long, there are already noticeable changes in various areas.
Claiming that no significant progress had been made within such a timeframe, he insisted, was absurd.
Infrastructure projects in the FCT are still going strong, which Wike said shows the administration is serious about growth.
He praised the volume and velocity of the current endeavours, saying that they are a substantial improvement over earlier failures.
Common Nigerians, he added, would observe real improvements in their neighbourhoods, and public opinion would not reflect the accusations levelled by Atiku.
He thinks that if people could see these changes happening, it would be hard for naysayers to claim that nothing is being done.
“We have been in office for less than three years, yet the transformation is clear. Nigerians would laugh at anyone suggesting nothing is being done,” Wike stated…..See More
