I Can Bet My Life On It That Obi Will Humiliate Soludo In Anambra, I’ve No Doubt About That -Momodu

Chief Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and publisher, has expressed confidence that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), would politically defeat Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo in the state during the 2027 general election.

Momodu made the remarks during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday, while discussing the political influence of Obi in the Southeast and South-South and the implications for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The ADC chieftain insisted that Obi remained a formidable political figure in his home region, arguing that Soludo’s position as governor would not necessarily translate into greater electoral support for Tinubu.

Momodu said, “And I can tell you something: Soludo is the same. I can bet my life on it that Peter Obi will humiliate and disgrace Soludo in Anambra State.”

He expressed certainty about Obi’s popularity, adding, “I have no question about that.”Momodu described the former Anambra governor as a major political force in the Southeast and South-South, suggesting that his influence could affect the distribution of votes in the 2027 presidential election.

“Peter Obi is a rock star where he comes from, especially in the Southeast and the South South,” he said.

Although Momodu declared his support for former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, who is also seeking the presidency under the ADC, he said he would welcome an electoral victory for Obi in the regions where he enjoys substantial support.

“I’m supporting Atiku, but I would be very happy when people say, ‘Oh, if you people don’t come together, you’re going to lose the election,’ the scenario is different this time,” Momodu said.

He argued that the political calculations ahead of the 2027 election differed from previous contests, particularly because of the influence of opposition candidates in different parts of the country.

Momodu further warned that Obi’s continued participation in the presidential race could pose a challenge to Tinubu’s electoral ambitions in the southern part of the country.

“Peter Obi will humiliate Tinubu and all his supporters in the Southeast and some parts of the South South, and that is dangerous for Tinubu,” he said.

According to Momodu, Tinubu would need to maintain substantial support across the southern geopolitical zones while also competing for votes in the North.

“For Tinubu to win, he needs to lock down all the three regions in the South, and now he has to go and struggle in the North,” he added.
