Since Atiku Threw A Devastating Bomb On Obj, He Has Been Receiving Obj’s Hypersonic Missiles -Sani

In a post shared on his X handle on Saturday, August 1, 2026, former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has weighed in on the long-running feud between ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, describing it as a rivalry so enduring that an entire generation has grown up, graduated, and started families within its lifespan.

The remarks come amid a fresh escalation in the rivalry, after Obasanjo recently described his choice of Atiku as his running mate in 1999 as the “biggest mistake” of his political career, in some of the strongest personal comments he has made publicly about the fallout between the two men.

The relationship between Obasanjo and Atiku, once considered a formidable political partnership, deteriorated sharply during their eight years running Nigeria together, culminating in a bitter dispute over an attempt by Obasanjo’s allies to amend the constitution and allow him a third presidential term.

When that bid collapsed in 2006, tensions between the two men widened further, eventually spilling into a legal battle after Obasanjo declared Atiku’s office vacant following his defection from the People’s Democratic Party. The Supreme Court later ruled in Atiku’s favour, affirming that the presidency lacked the constitutional power to remove an elected vice president.

Sani painted a vivid picture of the decades-long political and personal animosity between the two former allies turned rivals.

“The Obj/Atiku feud began when the GenZs were in Nursery and Primary school. Its continuing even when that generation had graduated from Universities and married with children. Its likely going to continue until one of them is gone and the other will pay a glowing tribute. Since Atiku threw a devastating bomb on Obj, he has been receiving Obj’s hypersonic missiles for two decades,” he wrote…….See More
