Veteran actor and filmmaker Femi Fadeyi has revealed that his father, an engineer, gave him the freedom to choose his own career path despite wanting him to follow in his footsteps. Fadeyi disclosed that his father was very supportive when he expressed his desire to pursue a career in the arts, politics, and business rather than engineering.
Speaking on Biola Adebayo’s Talk-to-B show, Fadeyi explained that his family was well-to-do and influential in society, which gave him and his siblings the freedom to pursue their passions. He stated that when his father asked what he wanted to do, he told him he loved the arts, politics, and business, and his father encouraged him to go for it, a decision that shaped his entire career.
Femi Fadeyi said: “My dad was an engineer. When he said, ‘What would you like to do? I would love you to be an engineer, but choose what you want,’ I just told my dad, ‘I said listen, I like this thing I see in movies, this your cinema. I love to be an artist.
