“Forever War” Warning Emerges As Iranian Analyst Blasts Trump Remarks On Teharn Tensions

According to a report by Al Jazeera on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, An Iranian political analyst has sharply criticised recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, describing the comments as “vicious and disrespectful” and warning that they risk further damaging already fragile diplomatic prospects between Washington and Tehran.

Speaking to Al Jazeera, Ali Akbar Dareini, a researcher at Iran’s Centre for Strategic Studies, said Trump’s rhetoric reflects a long-standing pattern of confrontational language that has repeatedly obstructed efforts to establish meaningful dialogue between the two nations.

“Iran’s position has been very clear. Firstly, there is a need to end the naval terrorism, the naval blockade, in order to pave the way for any possibility of negotiations,” Dareini stated, referring to restrictions and sanctions affecting Iranian shipping activities and maritime trade routes.

According to Dareini, the United States is now facing three possible paths forward, each carrying significant political and strategic consequences. “One is to accept defeat, back down and get out of this war of choice,” he said. “The second is to escalate tensions more and get stuck into a forever war… and the third choice is a face-saving solution mediated by powers like China.”

He also warned that continued escalation between the two countries could trigger wider instability across West Asia and severely affect global energy markets. Dareini argued that a prolonged confrontation could disrupt international oil and gas supplies for years while deepening regional insecurity.
