Mrs. Celestina Amadi, a 75-year-old widow from Abazu Akabo in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, whose son, David Amadi, was arrested at the age of 17 and has remained in prison for 28 years over a robbery allegation, has spoken about the circumstances surrounding his arrest.

In the interview, Celestina said the incident happened in 1998 when police officers came to their family home searching for her son. According to her, David had gone to a dance event in Uzoagba at the time the officers arrived.
She explained that the police later tracked him down at the event, where he was arrested following an allegation made by a man identified as Vita, who accused him of stealing money.
Celestina further stated that her son was assaulted during the arrest, kicked to the ground, and taken forcefully to Owerri, where he was detained.
