The spokesperson for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Kenneth Okonkwo, has accused the NDC Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi of being the real obstacle to a Southeast presidency and not himself.
Speaking in an interview with Channels TV, Okonkwo said, “It is Peter Obi who is now working against Igbo presidency and vice presidency, not me. Because he came to ADC on his own and said he was going to contest under ADC, and then he left just about one week before the deadline. So you cannot say I am the one working against Igbo presidency. The fact that I could not see a clear path to Igbo presidency that was why I said I would not campaign until I was certain of that path,” he said.
Okonkwo also urged journalists and the public to adopt more precise language when discussing the issue, preferring “Southeast” over “Igbo” to reflect the broader geopolitical reality. “There are Igbo people in the south-south, Igbo people in the north, and the Igbo are predominantly in the Southeast,” he said.
He pointed to former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi’s emergence as ADC’s vice presidential candidate as a key reason he now views the party as the strongest available route to Southeast representation at the highest level of government……See More
