A wave of gratitude and renewed hope swept through the Yawota community in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State on Sunday, as families of the rescued pupils and teachers gathered for a special thanksgiving sunday service to celebrate the safe return of their loved ones.
One of the parents, Mrs. Esther Salami, said in an interview with News Central TV, “I have not seen my child yet, but people in town have seen them. My first child in Oyo called me and told me he saw his sisters, and that they are being taken good care of in the hospital. I believe they are safe. My son told me my children slept very well and that Governor Seyi Makinde bought new clothes for them,” she said.
Mrs. Salami, whose children spent nearly two months in a forest in the hands of their abductors, visibly struggled to contain her emotions as she spoke to journalists.
