Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ike Nwachukwu, has explained how he handled challenges when he first took office without prior experience.
According to a report by THE SUN on Wednesday May 6, 2026, Ike said he met experienced officials who were used to a different system, creating a gap between them and himself. He noted that they saw him as an outsider, which made it hard for them to understand his ideas at the beginning.
To address this, Nwachukwu said he took the officials to his village so they could see his background and understand the reality of everyday life in Nigeria. He added that this helped them connect better with his vision and bridge the gap between them.
He said,
“When I became minister, I had no prior experience or exposure. Many of the senior officials were technocrats, and there was a clear gap in understanding. I took them to my village so they could see where I come from and understand the real Nigeria, beyond offices and protocols.”……See More
