Veteran Nollywood actress and retired education director Funmilayo Omikunle, a celebrated thespian known for her deeply emotional storytelling and decades of service to both education and the Nigerian film industry, appeared as a special guest on Abiola Adebayo’s popular television program “Talk to B,” where she opened up about her impressive educational background and the deep love that shaped her journey from primary school all the way to acquiring her master’s degree.
She explained that her upbringing was rooted deeply in affection, which provided a solid foundation for her personal and professional life. According to Funmilayo Omikunle, she progressed steadily through various levels of education, eventually attending Lagos State University for her higher degrees, before settling down to build a family with a man from her hometown.
She emphasized that every phase of her life, including her marriage and the raising of her children, was anchored on the principles of love that she experienced as a child. This same love eventually became the guiding force throughout her long and successful career as a classroom teacher.
She said: “I went to primary school. From there I went to grammar school. From there I went to teachers college. From there I went to college of education. From there I came to Lagos State University, where I did my first degree and second degree. All these moments I was learning in love, because I told you I grew up under love. I got married to my husband, he came from the same area, same place. I have children, all in love. So when we got to Lagos, I started my life as a teacher.
