My Brother Bala Muhammad, And My Friend Seyi Makinde, I Don’t Know Where They’ll Be Heading To -Wike

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has issued a statement in response to the recent finding of the Supreme Court regarding the leadership conflict inside the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He stated that the judgement has effectively settled any internal divides that existed within the party.

In a video that was uploaded to Arise TV shortly after the ruling was announced, Wike provided an explanation that the court upheld the Abuja convention, which resulted in Abdulrahman being appointed as the National Chairman of the party, while simultaneously nullifying the Ibadan convention, which had earlier placed Turaki. According to him, the verdict eliminates any foundation for portraying the party as factionalised by establishing a single, lawful leadership structure for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Regardless of the individual’s influence or position, he emphasised that the judgement reaffirms the importance of sticking carefully to the rules established by the party as well as the procedures established by the constitution. Wike made the observation that the observance of due process continues to be an essential component in the preservation of order and unity within political organisations.

A number of party members, including Bala Mohammed and Seyi Makinde, who had previously been linked with the opposing camp were also brought up in the minister’s discussion regarding their perspective. He voiced his uncertainty regarding their subsequent actions, particularly in light of allegations that they are currently participating in coalition discussions with opposition organisations that are not affiliated with the PDP framework.

Furthermore, Wike stated that the alternative political arrangements that these persons are investigating might also be suffering internal issues, which would cast doubt on the durability of these arrangements over the long run.
