Former Vice Presidential candidate Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed has revealed the details of a private conversation he had with Labour Party’s Peter Obi, disclosing that he openly challenged the former presidential candidate over his lack of a clear political strategy.
Speaking on SYMFONI TV, Baba-Ahmed said he tracked down Obi on January 31, 2024, at 8:30 p.m. at Chelsea Hotel to confront him directly about his political direction.
”What’s your plan going forward?” Baba-Ahmed said he asked Obi during the meeting, adding that he received no satisfactory answer.
Frustrated by the response, Baba-Ahmed said he urged Obi to consider aligning with other political figures. “If you don’t have a plan, sir, please here is either Kwankwaso or somebody I will not mention, try and work with them, I tell you that this is not democracy because if you’re a true democrat, you should belong before you contest. And these are instructive things. Not get the ticket before you belong, it doesn’t happen. It is not good for any system to happen,” he said.
