Popular Nollywood actor Segun Ogungbe has spoken openly about his past relationship with his estranged wife, actress Wunmi Ajiboye, revealing how their personal life and professional careers were deeply intertwined even after their separation.
The actor made the disclosure during an interview published on the official YouTube channel of Agbaletu TV, where he discussed their collaboration in film production, financial involvement in movie projects, and how they managed to continue working together despite their breakup.
Ogungbe explained that before their separation, Wunmi Ajiboye was not only his partner in marriage but also a key collaborator in his filmmaking ventures, contributing significantly to production costs and creative development.
According to him, their relationship extended beyond personal ties into a strong professional partnership, with both parties actively investing in the success of their movie projects.
He noted that even after their breakup, they were still able to function as colleagues in the entertainment industry, appearing in the same film projects and co-producing content due to the demands and structure of Nollywood.
The actor stressed that the film industry often requires professionals to separate emotions from business, allowing individuals who may have personal disagreements to still collaborate on set.
Ogungbe further revealed that both he and Wunmi Ajiboye jointly financed one of his movie projects after their separation, sharing production responsibilities and costs equally.
He explained that such collaboration was possible because of mutual respect for the craft and their shared interest in ensuring the success of the project, regardless of personal circumstances.
When asked directly whether their continued interaction meant they had reconciled romantically, Ogungbe clarified that professional collaboration should not be mistaken for a full reconciliation in their personal relationship.
He emphasized that their decision to work together again was purely based on professionalism and the nature of the film industry.
He said: “Film making is so powerful to the extent that even when you are fighting with someone, you can still feature in the same movie together. Wunmi worked with me before we broke up, and she spent a lot of money on my movie. The two of us produced one of my movies together, and we spent the same amount of money on the movie.”
Ogungbe added that their experience reflects the reality of Nollywood, where filmmakers often collaborate across personal boundaries due to shared investments and production commitments.
He noted that the industry is built on teamwork, and successful productions often require cooperation between individuals regardless of their personal history.
