I Wrote A Suicide Note, Almost Ended It That Night, But Something On The Road Stopped Me -Dedun Oluwo

Entrepreneur and content creator Dedun Oluwo said she wrote a suicide note and came close to driving her car into a ditch on the same night she discovered her husband’s infidelity in the early hours of an April morning in 2021. She made the heartbreaking disclosure during a deeply personal conversation with host Chude, saying she felt so unsafe and so lost in that moment that she saw no reason to continue.

She said she drove out of their estate at about 1 a.m. heading toward a spot where she believed she could end her life, and only stopped because a construction sand pile blocked her path and broke her focus long enough for reason to return. Oluwo said she also credits her medical background with the small voice inside her that kept reminding her that what she was experiencing were suicidal thoughts she did not have to act on.

She said: “I did not feel safe. That night, because I was not feeling safe with the person my family had entrusted me to be with for life, I felt okay, so what is the purpose here exactly? And I remember I wrote a suicide note. I wrote on my bank details how they should share my money and I took my car key and I drove into the car because it was about 1 a.m. and there was nobody on the road. And as I turned and drove toward the small mini street, it was so dark looking ahead. And I was like, this is how my life feels right now and I might as well just go and join it. So I drove closer, closer, closer. And unfortunately as I got close to it, someone had piled up sand from construction and I was wondering how am I going to navigate this. That moment kind of calmed me down because I realised that is going to take a lot of work. So I said, well, I beg. Go back. And I drove back and I cried my eyes out till the next morning.”……See More
