Wike’s Aide, Lere Olayinka Tackles Seyi Makinde, Turaki, Accuses Them Of Disregarding Court Judgment

Lere Olayinka has taken issue with certain members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), naming Seyi Makinde and Taminu Turaki, for ignoring court decisions during the party’s current leadership turmoil.

In response to parts of a ruling from the Supreme Court, Olayinka noted that the court sharply criticized what it labeled as noncompliance with legitimate court orders and the troubling trend among political figures to engage in “forum shopping” regarding the PDP issue.

He mentioned the ruling, which is attributed to Justice Nwosu Iheme, that invalidated the PDP convention that took place on November 15 and 16, 2025. He pointed out that the Supreme Court expressed worry that some party leaders disregarded orders from the Federal High Court and opted instead to pursue favorable outcomes from another court in Oyo State, all while being part of the same political dispute.

Olayinka remarked that the highest court did not hesitate to condemn the actions of those involved, labeling their behavior as careless and harmful to the legal system. He cited the judgement, which stated that such actions were “entirely irresponsible” and caused significant disgrace to judicial processes.

He further clarified that the court issued a warning against forum shopping in political issues, emphasizing that persistent misuse of this practice could diminish public trust in the judicial system. The ruling also indicated that some lawyers and judges could be facilitating actions that compromise confidence in the justice process.

With rising tension in the PDP, Olayinka used the court’s remarks to criticize those opposing the group linked to Nyesom Wike.

He maintained that the stance of the Supreme Court has heightened public anxiety regarding the management of internal conflicts within the opposition party, particularly in relation to leadership issues and temporary arrangements leading up to the 2027 elections.

He suggested that the ruling serves as a caution to political figures regarding the repercussions of dismissing lawful court rulings, emphasizing that respecting judicial authority is vital for sustaining democratic governance.

The ongoing struggle for leadership within the Peoples Democratic Party is continuing to deepen, as competing factions challenge the legitimacy of party structures and partake in legal disputes over control. These disagreements are also playing out in public, involving prominent individuals such as Seyi Makinde and Taminu Turaki, which raises further worries among supporters about the unity and stability of the opposition.

Olayinka’s remarks, based on the court’s ruling, underscore the increasing pressure on party members to adhere to judicial decisions, particularly as internal conflicts continue to influence the PDP’s political trajectory leading into upcoming elections…….See More
