My Husband Sold All His Properties To Treat My Cancer -Cancer Survivor Speaks On Husband’s Support

A Nigerian mother of four, Adetutu Koleosho, has shared her emotional journey of battling breast cancer and the extraordinary sacrifice her husband made to keep her alive.

In an interview with Punch Newspapers, Adetutu, who is based in Shagamu, Ogun State, recounted how her health challenge began in 2023 while she was six months pregnant. She explained that she initially noticed a small lump in her breast, about the size of a groundnut, which she assumed was a normal change related to pregnancy. However, the situation worsened rapidly. Within a few weeks, the lump grew significantly, causing discomfort and raising concern.

After undergoing medical tests, she was diagnosed on November 23, 2023, with invasive grade 3 breast cancer, a development she described as shocking and life-changing.

According to her, the journey that followed was both financially and emotionally draining. The family initially spent over N2 million on alternative treatments that did not improve her condition. They later turned to conventional medical care, which included chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery.

To cover the high cost of treatment, her husband made a major sacrifice by selling his only property, along with other valuables, to ensure she received the care she needed. She described his actions as a turning point in her fight for survival.

She said: “My husband sold all his property to treat my cancer.”

Adetutu also revealed that her illness affected her social life, as some friends distanced themselves after her diagnosis. Despite these challenges, she remains hopeful and committed to raising awareness.

Now a survivor, she advocates for regular medical check-ups, stressing that early detection can save lives and that cancer can affect anyone…..See More
