A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Sani, has suggested that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) may be benefiting from the internal crisis within the opposition party. Speaking during an interview on Trust TV, he argued that the situation appears aimed at weakening the PDP ahead of future elections.
Sani explained that the ongoing tensions in the party should not be seen as a contest of political strength between parties, but rather as a broader issue involving Nigerians evaluating the performance of the current government. According to him, the real question is whether citizens are satisfied with what the APC has achieved while in power and if they are willing to continue supporting the party.
He also pointed out that the PDP still has strong potential despite its internal challenges. In his view, the party could become a serious threat to the ruling party if it is able to present a credible and widely accepted candidate.
While referring to comments previously made by political figure Buba Galadima, Sani chose to avoid using similar harsh language. However, he maintained that the APC is aware of the PDP’s ability to win elections under the right conditions, which he believes explains the political tension surrounding the opposition party.
In his words, “I will not use the words Buba Galadima used because I won’t say a corpse. But if we have a very good candidate within the PDP, he’ll defeat the ruling party.”…..See More
