One of the chieftains of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kachikwu Dumebi, has threatened legal action against the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, over the alleged failure to recognize and upload names of party members who emerged from a recent convention.
The statement was contained in a video posted on the official X handle of CHANNELS TV on Monday, May 25, 2026, where Dumebi addressed concerns surrounding the outcome of the ADC convention and its recognition by the electoral body.
In the video, Dumebi insisted that the party would not hesitate to take legal steps if INEC failed to comply with what he described as a lawful obligation to publish the names of delegates and officials produced at the convention.
He said, “We will charge the INEC Chairman for contempt of court if the commission fails to upload the names of those who emerged from our convention on its portal.”
Dumebi argued that the refusal or delay by INEC to recognize the outcome of the convention undermines internal party democracy and could be seen as disregarding judicial processes if there is already a court directive backing their position.
He maintained that the ADC leadership is committed to following due process but would equally insist on enforcement of court-backed decisions, especially where the legitimacy of party structures is concerned…..See More
