2027: Governor Fubara Will Be Compensated With A Ministerial Or Ambassadorial Appointment -Ojo

Public affairs analyst Jide Ojo has suggested that Siminalayi Fubara could eventually receive a ministerial or ambassadorial appointment amid the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Ojo discussed the growing political tensions in the state and the possible outcomes of the dispute involving Governor Fubara and political forces linked to former governor Nyesom Wike.

According to Ojo, despite the current political uncertainty surrounding Fubara’s future in Rivers State politics, there remains a possibility that he could transition into a national role through political negotiations and reconciliation efforts within the ruling structure.

“Governor Fubara will be compensated with a ministerial or ambassadorial appointment,” Ojo said during the interview.

The analyst explained that such arrangements are common in Nigerian politics, where outgoing governors or politicians affected by internal party disputes are sometimes offered federal appointments or diplomatic roles as part of broader political settlements.

Ojo noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other influential political stakeholders may consider alternative positions for Fubara if ongoing negotiations reshape the political landscape in Rivers State ahead of future elections.

He further argued that the Rivers crisis reflects deeper issues involving political loyalty, godfatherism and power-sharing within the state’s ruling political structure. According to him, while compensation through appointments may help reduce tensions, it does not completely resolve the underlying disagreements driving the conflict.

Ojo added that the future stability of Rivers State politics would depend largely on reconciliation efforts and whether political agreements reached among key actors are respected.
