According to a report by Daily Post on Friday, May 22, 2026, former deputy national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Timi Frank, has expressed concern over the health and safety of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, who is reportedly being held by the Department of State Services.
Frank raised the concern in a statement issued on Friday, where he questioned recent developments surrounding El-Rufai’s condition and treatment while in custody.
According to Frank, a Russian doctor was allegedly brought in on Thursday night to examine El-Rufai without the consent or approval of his family members.
He claimed that the decision created anxiety among those close to the former governor and raised several unanswered questions regarding the circumstances surrounding the medical examination.
Frank stated that the development was unusual and should be clearly explained to the public in order to avoid further speculation.
Frank also questioned the reason behind involving a foreign doctor despite reports that El-Rufai appeared healthy during his recent appearance at the Federal High Court.
He maintained that the former Kaduna governor did not show visible signs of serious illness during the court session, adding that many people who saw him at the time believed he was physically stable.
Based on that observation, Frank said he found it difficult to understand the urgency and timing of the medical examination carried out while El-Rufai remained in DSS custody.
The former APC spokesman further expressed concern about the timing of the visit by the doctor, noting that it reportedly took place late at night.
He argued that if there was a genuine medical emergency involving El-Rufai, the authorities should have properly informed his family and legal representatives before arranging such an examination.
Frank insisted that transparency was necessary in handling the matter because of El-Rufai’s political profile and the public attention surrounding his detention.
He said, “If Mallam El-Rufai is truly ill, why bring in a foreign doctor at that time of the night?……See More
