In an interview with Trust TV on Monday, May 18, 2026, former Governor Rotimi Amaechi stated that he is not interested in becoming the vice presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 election
Amaechi made this statement when the anchor Hamza Idris asked him if he would accept the ADC vice presidential slot. He stated that he did not buy his presidential nomination form to become vice president
However, Amaechi added that he is open to discussions within the party to choose a consensus candidate for the presidential election
