The self-acclaimed Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, Adeniyi Adeyemi, has denied claims that he was hiding following his arrest by the Nigeria Police Force.
According to a report by PUNCH on Tuesday July 14 2026, Adeyemi was arrested in Osun State by the Intelligence Response Team from Abuja, hours after a Federal High Court in Abuja issued a bench warrant for his arrest over his failure to appear in court.
Adeyemi is facing charges of alleged conspiracy, forgery and impersonation. The police also accused him of operating the purported Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, an organisation the Presidency has said does not exist.
Reacting to his arrest, Adeyemi maintained that he was not in hiding but had stayed away because he feared for his safety, alleging that there had been several attempts on his life.
He is expected to be transferred to Abuja for further legal proceedings.
