The pastor of an ECWA church, Rev. Timothy Omole, has recounted the harrowing ordeal his family endured after his wife, Rachael Oluwaremilekun Omole, was abducted and later killed despite the family meeting substantial demands made by her captors.
Speaking during an interview on Arise News, on Saturday, 6 June, 2026, the cleric narrated how the kidnappers repeatedly increased their demands even after receiving millions of naira and other items requested as ransom.
According to Rev. Omole, the abductors initially demanded an astronomical sum before eventually agreeing to negotiate following persistent pleas from the family.
“They started with ransom of N1 billion. But after so much pleading, we agreed to N20 million, 5 bags of rice, 30 liters of petrol, 1 packet of Maggi, one jerican of red oil and hard drug worth of N48,000,” he said.
The pastor explained that the family mobilized resources to meet the agreed conditions in the hope of securing the safe release of his wife. However, he said the situation took a shocking turn after the ransom and supplies had been delivered.
“Then on Saturday, we were called that the money they collected from us is too small. That their Oga said he cannot collect that money from us, we should go and look for N300 million,” Rev. Omole stated.
The revelation has renewed concerns over the growing menace of kidnapping and the increasing financial burden placed on victims’ families, many of whom are forced to raise huge sums under intense emotional distress.
The killing of Mrs. Omole despite the family’s efforts has also intensified calls for stronger security measures and more decisive action against criminal gangs operating across parts of the country.
