According to a report by Channels TV on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has praised the performance of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Speaking during a television interview, Momodu argued that Atiku played a central role in the success of the administration between 1999 and 2007 and was widely regarded as one of its most influential figures.
“You would remember under the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo, Atiku was the star boy of that administration,” he said.
According to Momodu, Atiku’s office attracted talented young professionals who contributed significantly to governance and policy implementation during the period.
He recalled that several officials who worked closely with Atiku later became prominent figures in both public and private sectors.
The publisher described Atiku’s office as one of the most vibrant centres of government activity at the time, comparing its operations to those of leading international administrations.
Momodu also pointed to Atiku’s business interests and management experience as evidence of his capacity for leadership.
He argued that the former vice president has consistently demonstrated administrative competence and has maintained a strong record in both public service and private enterprise.
The ADC chieftain further noted that Atiku’s political journey has been marked by patience and resilience, citing his decision to step aside for the late Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola during the 1993 presidential election process.
According to him, Atiku’s career reflects a willingness to wait for opportunities rather than engage in unnecessary political conflicts.
Momodu maintained that these qualities continue to make the former vice president a significant figure in Nigerian politics…..See More
