Nollywood actor and House of Representatives aspirant under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Emeka Ike, says his decision to venture into politics was driven by a desire to understand the forces shaping governance in Nigeria rather than a mere quest for political office.
Speaking on Channels Television on Tuesday June 2nd, 2026, Ike said he became actively involved in politics after years of observing the country’s challenges and questioning why meaningful change has remained elusive.
According to him, his political ambition goes beyond the desire to occupy a leadership position, stressing that he wants to gain firsthand insight into how the political system operates.
“My entry into politics did not just come out of a mere desire to be a leader. I came into politics because I want to actually know what is going on behind the scenes,” he said.
The actor noted that despite extensive public discussions by the media and political commentators about Nigeria’s problems, the expected transformation has not materialised.
He explained that this realization pushed him to move from being a social commentator to becoming an active participant in the political process.
Ike added that his experience as an actor, entrepreneur, administrator and life coach has equipped him with leadership and problem-solving skills that he believes can contribute to governance and public service…..See More
