Makinde Is Playing To Gallery Because He Must Find Way To Escape When End Of His Tenure Comes -Fayose

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has predicted that President Bola Tinubu will secure overwhelming support across much of the South-West in the 2027 presidential election, arguing that opposition forces currently lack the political strength to challenge the President effectively in the region.

Fayose made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television on Monday, June 1, 2026, where he assessed the political landscape in the South-West and the prospects of opposition figures ahead of the next general election.

According to the former governor, the electoral realities in the region differ significantly from narratives circulating in political circles and on social media.

“There’s an election coming up in the southwest. You are asking whether he would not have issues in the southwest. Let me analyze southwest for you. I don’t mind if you say Fayose is lying. Very soon we’ll see the result,” he said.

Fayose expressed confidence that Tinubu would record a decisive victory in Ekiti State, noting that he has publicly declared his support for the President despite not being a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). “In Ekiti, Tinubu will win landslide. I am there. I didn’t hide it. I’ve told you that is where I am. I am not a member of their party,” he stated.

The former governor also predicted that political actors across party lines in Osun State would ultimately support Tinubu’s re-election bid. “Go to Osun, Osun election, for Tinubu, all parties, either Accord, either APC, either PDP, they are going to work for Tinubu. You may not believe me, but you’ll get the result very soon,” Fayose said.

Turning to Ondo State, he argued that opposition leaders would struggle to make significant electoral gains there. “Let’s go quickly to Ondo state. No governorship election there. Tinubu, which vote will Makinde go and win in Ondo? You understand? It’s not possible,” he said.

Fayose also commented on Oyo State politics, taking aim at Governor Seyi Makinde and questioning his political strategy ahead of the 2027 elections. “Go to Oyo state, where Makinde himself comes from.
