In a recent interview on Channels TV, on Monday, June 1, 2026, ADC chieftain and former presidential candidate Dele Momodu spoke in strong support of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, describing him as a politician whose career has been defined by patience, resilience, and an ability to avoid unnecessary political confrontations. Momodu made the remarks while responding to criticisms directed at Atiku by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal.
During the discussion, Momodu reflected on Atiku’s long political journey and argued that the former vice president has consistently demonstrated a calm approach to political challenges. He maintained that despite facing numerous setbacks, controversies, and electoral defeats, Atiku has remained focused on his ambitions without engaging in personal attacks against opponents.
Speaking during the interview, Momodu stated, “Atiku Abubakar is in a class of his own; he does not fight with anybody, and he waits for God’s time.” He made the remark while highlighting what he described as Atiku’s unique style of politics, which emphasizes patience and perseverance rather than hostility and conflict.
According to Momodu, Atiku’s political history provides several examples of his willingness to accept difficult outcomes and continue pursuing his goals through democratic means. He noted that the former vice president has remained one of Nigeria’s most prominent political figures despite repeatedly encountering obstacles throughout his career.
The ADC chieftain also argued that Atiku’s ability to maintain relationships across different political, ethnic, and religious groups has contributed to his continued relevance in national politics. He described the former vice president as a leader who prefers dialogue and consensus-building to political warfare.
Momodu concluded by expressing confidence in Atiku’s future political prospects, insisting that the former vice president remains focused on his aspirations and committed to contributing to Nigeria’s democratic development. He added that Atiku’s supporters view his patience and consistency as qualities that have distinguished him throughout decades of public life.
