According to a report by The Times Of Israel on May 29, 2026, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said Israeli ground forces are continuing their advance in southern Lebanon amid ongoing operations against Hezbollah.
He made the remarks during a visit to an army post on the Lebanese side of Mount Dov, noting that military activity in the area remains active with continued operations targeting Hezbollah positions and infrastructure.
Zamir said the campaign has caused significant damage to Hezbollah’s capabilities, including losses among fighters and commanders at various levels of leadership.
He further stated that the IDF’s “forward defense line” in southern Lebanon does not limit operational activity. According to him, Israeli forces maintain full flexibility to respond to threats across the region and will continue to act based on intelligence and operational requirements.
During the visit, Zamir said, “Even at these moments, our forces are advancing and operating,” underscoring ongoing battlefield activity.
Zamir added, “Wherever we identify a threat and wherever we are required to remove a threat, we will act. Wherever there is an operational need to maneuver, we will maneuver,” reiterating Israel’s operational stance in the region.
