Media aide to the FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka, has taken a swipe at supporters of detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, over what he described as the silence of Kanu’s social media loyalists.
Olayinka made the remarks in a post shared on his X handle on Wednesday while reflecting on previous court proceedings involving Kanu.
According to him, people who disagreed with Kanu’s conduct in court were heavily criticised online by his supporters.
“When Nnamdi Kanu was shouting in Court, telling a Judge; ‘You don’t know law,’ those of us who held different views were abused here,” Olayinka wrote.
He alleged that Kanu’s supporters aggressively attacked anyone who expressed opposing opinions.
“His social media bandits were everywhere, bullying those who do not agree with their god,” he added.
The presidential aide then questioned how many of Kanu’s online supporters had shown physical support for him.
“Today nko, how many of those social media urchins have visited Sokoto to see Nnamdi Kanu?” he asked.
Olayinka concluded the post with a Yoruba expression, “A bá ni da kìí bá ni dé bẹ̀,” suggesting disappointment in people who fail to stand by others in difficult moments.
The comments have generated mixed reactions online, with supporters and critics of Kanu debating the role of social media activism, loyalty and public support surrounding the IPOB leader’s legal battle…..See More
